Her gardens start with a drawing. She sees the garden as a living
organism, as an ever changing space. Feelings and intuition are
translated in to a growing green oasis of a country garden, city
garden, front garden or terrace.
The secret of her success is in the simplicity of her designs. For
her the ethical side is equally important as the aesthetical side of
the design. The object of her design are plants-living creatures that
need constant care. When designing a garden there are many aspects to
be considered - colour, light, shape, smell...
There has to be a harmony between the user and the garden.
She was a pioneer of garden design in Slovenia. Most of her gardens
are naturalistic. They look like they are a part of nature.
Common taste and trends change, but all gardens that she has
designed have a part of her personality, therefore they can not go out
of fashion.
In more than sixty years long carer she has mostly designed private
informal gardens. In the beginning of the sixties she designed two
larger public gardens. The park at villa Tartini and the park for the
Slovene forest institute.
Evan today she still designs gardens and cooperates with garden
magazines. All of her work has a youthful charm. She has successfully
combined the formal knowledge of garden architecture and practical
knowledge acquired during the years.
Juta Krulc is a remarkable person. Her philosophy on life, humans
and nature is timeless. She communicates thru gardens, gently she
opens our eyes for hidden details that would otherwise be missed. With
that she is changing us. She fills our lives with joy. Her work is a
mix of inspiration, precision and art.
On her ninetieth birthday we wanted to pay our tribute to her and
her work.
